1st edn., paperback original, 207pp, many in text half tone photo ills. and maps, pictorial paper wrappers, the Air Ministry account of British civil aviation 1939-44; at the outbreak of WW2 the civil aviation fleet passed into the hands of the Air Ministry, taking over the 82 aircraft which had been used on the worldwide network of regular service routes that had been established by that time, both flying boats and land based. Despite many routes being amended to take account of the occupation of some of the original transit stops the service continued and expanded, working with RAF Transport Command to establish the 'Atlantic Bridge' and taking into service many new types of aircraft, carrying passengers and freight, service personnel and mail all over the world, some wrinkling and slight slant to spine, a little rubbed at extrems., light diagonal crease upper wrapper, very good, (Book ref. 40003)  £20.00
