Original Engraving: Uncoloured, 28 x 24 cms. + border, 'The Shaded Coast is from the English the unshaded from the French Observations in Feb. 1772 as a Track of the Resolution & Discovery in Dec. 1776'. Chartered by Captain James Cook, he called Kerguelen's Land Island of Desolation, discovered in the South Indian Ocean, insert map shows Prince Edward Isles, called this by Captain Cook in 1776.
