BLACKBURNE (J.H.): A colour-printed full-length portrait caricature of Blackburne from the "Vanity Fair" magazine. , Printed by Vincent, Brooks, Day & Son, Lithographers, June 2nd, 1888.

Size 27 x 39.5cm (coloured area about 4cm less all round). The coloured portrait shows Blackburne dressed in a frock-coat, with cane and hat, a chess piece in top right corner, titled "Chess" at foot, drawn by "Ape" a famous caricature artist of the period. Vanity Fair magazine published over 1000 portraits of Men of the Day, including sportsmen, and Blackburne was the only chess player featured. Includes facsimile page of biography issued with the picture. Ideal for mounting and/or framing. (Book ref. 3941)  £25.00
