BLACKBURNE (J.H.): A colour-printed full-length portrait caricature of Blackburne from the "Vanity Fair" magazine. , Printed by Vincent, Brooks, Day & Son, Lithographers, June 2nd, 1888.Size 27 x 39.5cm (coloured area about 4cm less all round). The coloured portrait shows Blackburne dressed in a frock-coat, with cane and hat, a chess piece in top right corner, titled "Chess" at foot, drawn by "Ape" a famous caricature artist of the period. Vanity Fair magazine published over 1000 portraits of Men of the Day, including sportsmen, and Blackburne was the only chess player featured.
