Victoria Lucas [Sylvia Plath] The Bell Jar , London: William Heinemann / Readers Union, 1964.

Hardback. Very Good+ in Very Good- dust jacket. Decorated white + mauve d/jkt, unclipped; a little scuffed + marked; a little wear to upper and lower edges; impression of paperclip in top front edge, which has bled slightly on the reverse. Green boards, very light wear, bright; small mark at front top edge. Silver titling, bright. Owner's name + address on f.e.p. Binding tight, text clean. Though Sylvia Plath's authorship of the book is now only too well known, it was not always the case, for a note on the rear panel advises that "Victoria Lucas is a pseudonym, and we are not in a position to disclose any details of the author's identity." A nice example of this important mid-20th Century novel. ; Contemporary fiction; 8vo (5" x 7 1/2"); 258 pages (Book ref. 17318)  £300.00
