He also recounts, ‘After I had finished it, I was informed by Ensign French, of the 1st West India regiment, since deceased, that he had seen a Melo-drama performed at Astley’s, called, ‘Blood will have Blood; or, the Battle of the Two Bridges’, which, upon my reading him the manuscript, he said, resembled this Romance in some parts’.
