Milit„rgeographische Angaben uber Irland (Military/geographical Report on Ireland) was issued in Berlin in 1941 Nur fur den Dienstgebrauch! (For official use only) by Abteilung fur Kriegskarten und Vermessungswesen (Department for War Maps and Surveying), and was intended for use by the Generalstab des Heeres (German General Staff). At the outset of World War II, Germany's plans for the occupation of various countries in Europe were fluid. Although an invasion of Ireland - codenamed Unternehmen Grun (Operation Green) - was not one of their immediate priorities, the German High Command continued to gather together detailed information to prepare the ground for such an eventuality. This scarce title - frequently mentioned by military historians but seldom appearing for sale - covers Ireland's Atlantic seaboard. In short, this extensive book of photographs and maps which seldom comes onto the market is one of a number of confidential documents prepared at the beginning of the Second World War for the use of high ranking military planners, officers and their staff within the top echelons of the German war machine in Berlin. (Price includes postage UK) (Book ref. as-1968) £185.00 The payment methods accepted by the seller, German WW2 Invasion Documents , are shown in the right-hand column. |
