[EARLY ENVIRONMENTALIST] F.-A. , Paris, 19 Mars 1822.

In French. Four pages, folio, good condition. He traces at length the publishing history of his works from 1802, their success and widespread usefulness, particularly "Annales Europeennes". But he complains that he is left in poverty and obscurity. He suggests that more than 4000 institutions in France would benefit from having the work from Prefectures to agricultural societies to "Bibliotheques departmentales". His plea is attractively written and he has made marginal summaries throughout. Another hand has annotated with underlinings and one or two comments. Volumes de la premiere annee des Annales Europeennes", one page, folio, stained with some loss of text, NOT the same hand as the above. He explains with enthusiasm "l'objet et le but des Annales Europeennnes". This document is also annotated in another hand. Note: given the growing interest in the environment, perhaps Rauch can now be viewed as a pioneer. Two items, (Book ref. 5448 )  £ 450.00
