Lovell, Sir Bernard Astronomer By Chance , London: Macmillan London Ltd, 1991.

First British Edition. Blue Cloth. Very Good Plus. iv 380 pp illustrated by 20 b/w photographs; glossary, index. Sir Bernard Lovell realized that radar had potential beyond military use, and he was one of the pioneers of radio astronomy. Until his retirement in 1981, he was Professor of Radio Astronomy at Manchester University, and Director of the Nuffield Radio Laboratories, Jodrell Bank. The book has two blemishes: the pages have browned noticeably, and a date has been written in ink on the front free endpaper. In other respects, it is in fine condition. The price-clipped dust-wrapper is free from tears but lightly rubbed on the back. This is a very nice copy. (Book ref. 008520 )  £ 9.00
