8vo., with a coloured frontispiece, 15 fine coloured plates of species (all original guards present), 2 tinted plates of caterpillars (original guards present), and numerous woodcut illustrations in the text, neat contemporary signature on front free endpaper; original pictorial red cloth, upper board framed and blocked in gilt, back gilt extra (a little faded but entirely legible), gilt edges, bevelled boards, very neatly recased with original endpapers, covers lightly age-faded else a very good, bright, clean copy. With 4pp publisher's catalogue bound in at end, and the binder's ticket of W. Bone on rear paste-down. The colour plates are printed by Edmund Evans. First published in 1860; this is the superior issue with coloured plates. A nice copy of a standard work. Freeman 745 (recording the first edition). (Book ref. 18856 )  £ 64.00
