[c.1755].12mo (in 6s), 166 x 102 mms., pp. 84, later half calf, marbled boards; title-page with crude repairs and loss of "Secrets" in last part of title, and imprint slightly defective, front cover detached, spine very worn, with the arboreal bookplate of Henry B. H. Beaufoy, F. R. S. on the front paste-down end-paper. This is a different work from two published in 1680 with a similar title. Owen published three editions of this work, possibly in 1755, though one of the editions has an advert for the publication of The New and Complete Dictionary of Arts and Sciences, to be published on 23 February 1754. That advert does not appear in this edition. Possibly the first printing was one of 72 pages (ESTC T54055; BL, Oxford Worcester; Princeton, National Library of Australia), and the second with page 82 mis-numbered 28 and the advert just mentioned (ESTC T200543; Cambridge; Toulouse; Delaware, Texas). The above copy conforms to the ESTC listing T211422 (BL, Lambeth Palace; Witwatersrand).
