This is the first edition thus of this excellent Knut Hamsun title that first appeared in 1892 to the greatest of critical acclaim. Translated most faithfully from the Norwegian by Gerry Bothmer. All pages are present and correct with no inscriptions and are tightly bound. Book sits solid and square with all corners sharp. A very tidy copy inside and out in fine condition. Housed in the enigmatic Mike Hasted designed dustwrapper with publishers printed price intact on front inside flap. The painting by Mike Hasted to the front panel is somewhat reminiscent of work by the great artist Magritte and fits the literary style and enigma of this mysterious Knut Hamsun title wonderfully. Knut Hamsun of course the worthy recipient of the Nobel Prize for literature. Only the very lightest signs of handling otherwise a lovely fresh example of the dustwrapper. Protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition. Photographs of the book and the dustwrapper are available on request.
