The Rare Book Shelf

Manhood, H.A. NIGHTSEED , London, United Kingdom: Jonathan Cape, 1928.

First Edition. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall FIRST EDITION Bound in the publishers sage green cloth with gilt title lettering to spine. This is the first edition of an excellent collection of sixteen short stories by the largely forgotten and under appreciated H.A. Manhood. Some of the stories have a supernatural, rather bonechilling slant to them. All are very cleverly written ! The book is in Very Good condition with all pages present and correct and no inscriptions. A very clean and tightly bound copy. Housed in the very scarce surviving dustwrapper with interesting artwork designed by T. Lee Elliott. Publishers printed price remains intact on front inside flap. The dustwrapper is very fragile by nature with strengthening to the reverse of the head and tail of spine. Overall signs of handling and general wear, but importantly the dustwrapper remains largely intact. Dustwrapper protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition. A presentable copy of excellent short stories in the elusive surviving dustwrapper. (Book ref. 001042 )  £ 85.00
