First Edition. Very Good +/Good. 12mo - over 6" - 7" tall FIRST EDITION Bound in the publishers cherry red cloth with black title lettering to spine. This is the very scarce first printing of Patrick Hamilton's much applauded masterpiece. All pages are present and correct with no inscriptions. There is an introduction by J.B. Priestley in the course of which he says: "this trilogy is easily his best piece of work up to now. Given these people, living this kind of life, I know of no contemporary novelist who could have improved on it." Housed in the very rare dustwrapper with publishers printed price intact on front inside flap. Overall signs of handling and minor agetoning commensurate with age. Lighltly chipped to head and tail of spine. Minor edgewear. The dustwrapper remains wholly intact and in Good condition. Protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition.
