Contemporary speckled calf ruled in gilt, very neatly rebacked and recornered in matching calf, with brown morocco label. Engraved frontispiece + printed title-page + pp192, handsome modern armorial bookplate on endpaper, lacking front free endpaper, frontispiece professionally re-attached by blank margin at the time that the book was rebacked, else an excellent mellow copy. Scarce. The sine qua non of English joke books : first published 1739 : and many times reprinted. This 11th Edition not noted in 18thC STC : and not in Cambridge University Library.
