Issued without the frontispiece.* First Cruikshank Edition, publisher's original glazed fawn watered linen, treble dark blue paper labels lettered in gilt. Dumpy 8vo, ppiv + xii + 336 uncut, sides of delicate binding bit dusty or grubby, backstrip sunned to a darker brown, very slight wear, but a very good stout and secure copy. With 3 etched plates by George Cruikshank. Text and plates attractively clean and crisp. Uncommon in the original delicate binding. This copy apparently issued without the frontispiece : there are no signs of its removal, and equally no signs - such as faint offsetting &c - of its original presence.
