Near Very Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9" - 12" tall Book 5 Volumes / Divisions, Nos I, II, III, V & VI ( out of 6 Divisions published, Division IV is missing ) of the Classic Work by Henry Stephens. FOURTH EDITION, 1889, "Revised and in great part Re-Written by James MacDonald." Brown cloth covers with Gilt Plough in Field Design to fronts. Gilt Lettering to spines. Frontispiece of Vol I has an engraved Portrait of Henry Stephens with facsimilie signature beneath. Each Volume very well illustrated with Full Page Plates at the Front, protected by Tissue Guards ( 33 in Total ). In addition, Vol VI has 8 Plates (mostly double page) showing Farm Steading, Home Steading and Elevations for Farm Houses. Animals illustrated include: Cheviot Ram, Lincoln Ram, Red Polled Bull, Galloway Bull, Double-Horse Cart, Draught-Stallion 1840 & Oxford-Down Ram. Text arrange in Double Columns, with In-Text Illustrations. Div, I includes Soils & Ploughing; Dev, II includesWinter Practice, Feed & Care of Animals. Corn, Manures. Div III includes Spring Practices, Calving and Crops etc. Div. V includes Hay Making, Autumn Practices, Harvesting, Autumn Cereals, Crop Rotation, Drainage. Vol VI, includes Farm Buildings and a very interesting section on Breeds of Farm Live Stock. 10" Tall. Some edge wear and a little fraying to cloth at tips of corners and bottoms of spines. A little patchy loss of colour to cloth fronts (see photos) Previous owner's names on reverse of free endpapers and half title pages. An occasional marking in margins, pages mostly in very good, clear condition though slightly age darkened. Slight tobacco odour. Set weighs 4.1 Kilos so Shipping outside UK will be extra.
