A seamy novel of boxing and diamonds set in the late 1890's in Kimberley & Johannesburg The author was a well known pugilist who did much to advance the science of athletics in South Africa, and some of his best-known fights are described here.He made and lost a fortune,eventually committing suicide in a fit of depression at Johannesburg.The descript -ions of many of the characters are of recognisable people including the mining company boss Barney Barnato " (Book ref. 4071 )  £ 150.00
