A student of the Inner Temple. Thoughts on prison labour, &c, &c. , 1st ed. London: published by Rodwell and Martin; and sold by Simpkin and Marshall; Arch; Parker, Oxford; Blackwood, Edinburgh; Cumming, Dublin;..., 1824.

Frontis, 132, cccxlviii, 4p. Frontis is a plan of Cold Bath Field’s Prison. Concludes with 4-page publisher’s catalogue. Original boards with paper title label to spine. An interestingly flawed copy inasmuch as it appears to have been blasted with buckshot, front and back. The book block is solid and tight – only three shot have penetrated further than a third page, back and front. Occasional word extinguished but the sense is not. A scarce treatise. The extensive appendix includes an extensive overview and study of the medical impact of different forms of forced labour within penal establishments. (Book ref. wb11386 )  £ 40.00
