Tinted litho frontis, (correctly), 16 coloured plates, (including 5 of sections), and 14 coloured geological maps. Some plates with tissue guards. 165 illustrations in text, many full page. 2 multi-folding plates and 10 text illustrations in addenda. In a contemporary binding. Half black morocco on brown watered cloth boards. 5 raised bands, with gilt, and gilt decorated panels. Gilt title on red morocco label. Green and yellow headbands. Gilt to edges of leather. All edges of text block are red. All pages are clean and fresh, with a few odd spots. Minor signs of ageing to a few of the pages and margins. Sound and tight binding. On the front cover there is a circular darkened area, and the cloth has bubbled slightly; (either from underside of damp or hot plate ?). A FINE copy of this book, and a collector's item.
