This copy was sent for review by The Times Literary Supplement to Professor Jack Morpurgo. The review request slip is loosely inserted. This copy bears traces of fire damage (it was shelved adjacent to a small fire). The damage is charring and browning from the heat generated, and affects the upper outer corners of boards, first dozen or so leaves, and fore-edges. Worst affected are the leaves from front free endpaper through to Contents which have the upper outer corner charred leaving brown radial corners.
