LONDON Published by T.C.Hofland,23 Newman Street [c1826.] The Sheffield painter T.C.Hofland was born in Worksop and married to the successful poet & writer Barbara Hofland herself a daughter of a Sheffield Industrialist from Attercliffe Despite her husbands reputation her earnings as a writer were the main source of family income throughout their marriage. Hofland had two of his Sheffield paintings published as coloured lithographs, "Sheffield from the Reservoir Crooks" and "Sheffield from the Norton Road near Meersbrook" This uncoloured lithograph by Day & Haghe seems much the scarcest and was not included in the 1929 Mappin Exhibition. There are repairs to the margins which will mask out 15"X11" (Book ref. 4916)

London : Illustrated London News June 1846 The eight page supplement "A Brief Historical Memoir of the City of Dublin from the Earliest Period to the Present Time; With a Notice of its Present Aspect and Condition" containing a huge [1032 x 386 mm] woodcut birds-eye [Balloon view] of the whole city from the south, engraved by Smyth and showing in great detail, houses, shipping,canals and railways. There is some strengthening to the back of the print along the folds with some discolouration and the top right has been trimmed close but without loss [and easily concealed by laying down and mounting.] (Book ref. 4736)

Paris QUATRE CHEMINS-EDITART-PARIS [1948] A bound volume of the Numbered Limited Edition of 1,000 copies, this being Exemplaire No 788 Of 40 plates [executed c1880-1833] of which 10 are in colour. Printed on water marked " Marais" paper, the monochrome plates are evenly browned as usual to varying degrees. Small folio 12"x9" with Ballet plate facing the half title and frontis portrait. 40pps plus plate list and colophon stating "Not to be introduced into the USA" Originally issued in wrappers the early binding has nicely protected the plates and perhaps discouraged its breaking. A nice copy. (Book ref. 4694)

Sheffield. Marples & Hibbert April 1st. 1844. A large coloured lithograph by J.Harris after the painting by H.P. Parker drawing master of Wesley College Sheffield and an exhibitor in the Royal Academy. This attractive & popular view sometimes assumed to be by Ibbitt was reproduced in the seventies but in a slightly smaller size to avoid confusion with this, the 1844 original. Worksop: Robert White. Ackermann & Co. 96 The Strand. c1850. A fine coloured lithograph drawn on stone by Baldock after the oil painting by McIntyre now in the Sheffield Galleries.Often referred to as the "Saltbox View" the spelling being the original for Psalter Lane (Book ref. 4588)

Sheffield. M & N Hanhart Chromolithographers January 1861 A fine example of one of the seven panoramas painted by the Sheffield artist and issued as lithographic prints between 1826 and 1867. Ibbitt lived on Broad Lane and painted Sheffield extensively, in oil and watercolour.He was for a time a councillor for St George's Ward.Though widely known the views were never reproduced and are highly sought after. All seven are currently available at varying prices as well as others of the same period and earlier, by H. P. Parker [1795-1873] Joseph McIntyre [1841-1897] and T. C. Hofland. [177-1843] Details and scans on request. They comprise views from the East, West, South-East, Abbeydale,and the Valleys of The Don and The Sheaf. Psalter Lane,Crookes and Norton. (Book ref. 4585)
