London Virtue & Co (1875) A nice example of the hugely expanded and " Definitive "1875 edition in re-cased publishers cloth, again revised and considerably enlarged by Alfred Gatty. Vicar of Ecclesfield. Containing pedigrees, illustrations and other material not present in the 1819 or 1869 editions. Folio xix. (3) 510pps. Tissue guarded steel engraved frontispiece and 25 illustrations. An exceptionaly clean tight copy of the scarcest and best of the three editions. As usual there are various bits of ephemera included;details and scans on request. (Book ref. 5002)

LONDON Hamish Hamilton 1979. A Fine Copy of the First Edition of the authors 1st book, a gruesome reworking of Grimms Hansel and Gretel hugely acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic it won the Hawthornden Prize but it was 25 years before his next novel "Pinkerton's Sister" In 2005 he collapsed and suffered a fatal heart attack on a regular walk along Blakey Ridge near his home in Casleton North Yorkshire.
