Ink dedication from Jusserand to one of the front end paper "A Monsieur Jerningham [...] d'un collegue etranger JJ Jusserand" This end paper is slightly narrower than the adjoining leaves. The first two volumes published in 1903, the following two in 1904. Original blue cloth, boards marked and light wear. Light browning throughout, especially to end papers. American bookseller's description pasted to front pastedown of vol 1 and loosely inserted bill for this set from Walford Brothers of New Oxford Street, London; the books cost 10 shillings + 3 shillings 2 pence postage in 1928. John Bernard married Elizabeth Nash, grand daughter of William Shakespeare in 1649. Heavy set, extra postage will be required. (Book ref. 002751)
