There are 22 plates of plans, survey details etc. and 145 figures, some confusingly pictured on the numbered plates and others as separate sheets in the 'plates' section of the book. The figures include attractive & detailed engravings of surveying tools such as dumpy levels, transit instrument, and a current meter. The author was well-known for his standard work on 'Railway Construction'. Like other practical texts used in the field, good copies with all plates are hard to find. (Book ref. 6161)
