Boards have very slight wear to edges, joints and corners. All page edges are gilt. Fnt joint weak and showing linen underlay in places at fnt eps. Back joint tight but at page gutter before beps. can see a 2 inch split with linen underlay visible at its top. Faint old price on fep. Ex-owners name and small star shaped ink stain on f.fep. Preface and then 358 pages incl. 7 bright colour plates (incl. frontis which alone has a tissue guard) and 17 b&w full-page plates (each plate has a blank obverse) and 33 in-text b&w illus. all by H J Ford. Endpapers with art nouveau motifs and less so to the title page. A volume from the red letter library. The upper edge gilt. The other fore-edges rough cut. The ribbon page divider is still attached. One unopened page has been somewhat carelessly forced with an associated chip to the margin of one leaf - no loss of text. Former owner's ink initials and date to the head of the title page. A 1907 reprint of a book first published in this edition in 1903. Part of the 'red letter' library. Art nouveau designs to the endpapers. Upper edge gilt - others rought cut. Ribbon page-divider still present and intact. There are ink initials and a date to the corner of the title page dated 1915.
