London: "Boys Own Paper" Office, 1921. Illustrated by Holloway (eps), Wood, Stanley L.and Others. 1st. Pictorial Cover. Very Good/No Dustjacket. 4to A brown background book with a picture of a footballer on the spine and a warrior on a leaping horse firing a rifle on the front cover. It has coloured endpapers by Holloway showing Colonial Police in action. Some of the major illustrations are - a colourful foldout of Badges of the Cavalry Regiments of the British Army, a coloured page of International Football caps, a foldout "Sectional Elevation of an Aeroplane (Avro Limousine Type 546), a coloured page of "New National Flags". 664 pages. The spine cover is a bit faded but the picture and titles are still very bright. There are four small splits to the top spine edge. The bottom spine edge is rubbed and has a half inch top layer split upwards. Both of the sides of the spine up from the bottom are showing some strain. There is an actual split of approx 1" along the front edge and very small holes show further up the gutter. The back edge is just showing the very small holesfor about half the length of the gutter. Internally, the back hinge cover is split for just over half the length, the front hinge cover is intact. Even all of this the book is very tight stiil with no loose pages. The cover corners are bumped inward. The bottom front corner is worn through on the bottom edge. The interior is very clean and aprt from faint spots on the eps free of foxing.
