Frontis (b&w photo illus of HMS Fox) at Muscat) is loose and ragged around its edges. 256 pages. incl. 6 out of 8 b&w illus. are present although some loose (so two are missing) and 2 in-text maps (Somaliland and Gulf of Oman). This book contains the complete diaries maintained by Eoolf while serving in Hambantota District for four years from 1908 to1911. Thet were originally published in 1962, shortly after Woolf's return visit to Ceylon in 1960 in his eightieth year. These diaries are the first and still the only ones to be printed out of several hundred volumes which have survived of the records of the provincial administrators of Sri Lanka under the British.
