The grey green cover has dark blue titles and swastica embelem ob the spine and titles and swastica and a circular pasted on picture on the front cover. The extremities are rubbed and bumped, but only one corner has just worn through. The eps are mottled brown.The title page and early pages have some foxing. From 1819 he was Minister to the Netherlands followed by other postings in Europe, and finally to Prussia from 1830 until his retirement in 1832. Honorable but not distinguished, his friendship with the Duke was of many years duration, although the editor notes in the introduction that if the Duke had known that he was making notes of the conversations he would have regarded it as unforgivable.
