Bound in original blue cloth with gilt embossed lettering to the spine and front board. Illustrated with several b/w illustration plates, including frontispeice plate with tissue guard and there are several plans in the text. Rough cut fore edges. The casing is worn with some rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and board corners with some loss of the cloth. Splitting to the front outer hinge, expsoing the webbing, with an associated split to the front inner hinge betwen the front end paper and half title page. The front board remains attached, though somewhat shaken. Light scattered soiling to the boards. Previous owners ink name inscription to the reverse of the frontispeice plate and there are the faint remains of a pencil inscription above this. A number of the gatherings are a little loose. Close tear of 2 cm to the front margin of pp 9 and several of the page margins have some light soiling. A good minus copy of this first edition. (Book ref. 225999) £20.00
