Stead, W.T.: General Booth A Biographical Sketch.
London: Isbister and Company, 1891. 94 pp. 18 x 12 cm. Illustrated. Tissue-guarded frontispiece. A.e.g. Red boards with gilt titling. Some rubbing to boards but otherwise in good condition. A scarce item not often seen. There is a particularly interesting discussion on whether the Salvation Army owed more to the Quakers or to the Methodists. W.T. Stead was editor of the Pall Mall Gazette, and introduced yellow journalism to the English press. His exposure of child prostitution, working with Josephine Butler, was very important. He died on RMS Titanic in 1912. (Book ref. 13427) £75.00
