Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Large Z The complete four volume set of this history of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in lovely, clean, tight, fresh condition in very good wrappers. All volumes are bound in red cloth with gilt embossed black title blocks to the spine. Some reproductions in colour and black and white illustrate the text including colour frontispiece plates. Free from inscriptions - a lovely, clean, tight set. All four volumes have some fading to the spines of the wrappers and light or slight shelf wear to the wrappers. The wrappers have not been price-clipped. Volume one - 701pp. A slight bump to the head of the spine and light creasing to the wrapper at the head of the spine. Volume two, 720pp. Slight or light bumps to the head and tail of the spine with slight associated creasing to the wrapper. Volume three, 704pp. Title should read: 'The Hongkong Bank Between the Wars and the Bank Interned, 1919-1945 Return from Grandeur'. A bump to the head of the spine with some associated creasing to the wrapper; the tail of the spine a little turned in with slight creasing to the wrapper. Volume four, 991pp Title should read: 'The Hongkong Bank in the period of development and Nationalism, 1941 - 1984 From regional bank to Multinational Group.'. A bump to the upper rear board edge with an associated crease to the wrapper causing the outerlaminate to lift a little. a sligth bump to one corner at the head of the spine and a light crease to the wrapper towards the tail of the spine. A further 30 illustrations on illustrative plates as called for. Splitting to the front inner hinge between the frontispiece plate and the title page with a little exposed webbing. The binding remains tight. Also cracking to the inner hinge between two gatherings between pages 20 and 21. Two corners bumped and a couple of corners turned in. The fine remains of a label to the rear paste-down and one to the rear endpaper. No inscriptions. Scattered light or slight foxing - chiefly to the endpapers and the title page.
