Very Good Minus/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall 252pp. A first edition copy ( 1956) ( white spine ). Colour frontispiece plate and several b/w photographic images illustrate the text. There are numerous line drawings throughout. Bound in white laminated boards with gilt embossed lettering to the front board. Bumps to the head and tail of the spine and slight scattered soiling to the boards. Slight foxing to the end papers. There is a light stain to the front fore edges, not affecting the page margins and the top corners of 16 leaves have been creased and turned. Internally clean and tight. A very good minus copy. It has been brought up-to-date to meet the present short supply of food, and where the recipes appear to be extravagant, judged by present day standards, alternative austerity recipes are given wherever possible. Economy of fuel is carefully considered and the directions for i8 meals cooked entirely on the griller boiler and in the oven should be followed; variations of these meals may easily be made by the user. Temperatures throughout the book are approximate and the user is advised to write against the recipe the temperature which she finds most suitable.
