London: A & C Black, 1906 From ‘Surrey’ published by A &C Black, London, 1906, quality print in very good condition, print size including margins 8.5" x 6", retains original titled tissue guard, ARTIST: Harry Sutton Palmer was a landscape painter in watercolours. He was born in Plymouth and studied art for two years at the Royal College of Art where he won a gold medal for his work. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and also in London and New York. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists from 1892 and was elected Member of the Royal Institute in 1920. His first solo exhibition was held in 1880. He originally painted still life but from the age of 20 worked almost exclusively as a landscape painter. He also worked as an illustrator of books on landscape. He painted widely in Scotland, the Lake District, Berkshire and Surrey. He lived in London and died on 8th May 1933.
