London. Gresham. 1st edition. 1908. Folio. 2 Vols. Pp.; xix,201; xiii,203. 11 composite sectional models, 1 folding plate and numerous, (c.500), text illustrations, photos and drawings. Each of the model plates has a tissue guard bearing a key to the details on the layered model. Original dark green cloth, art deco style decoration blocked in black and gilt on spine and front cover. Pages all clean and unmarked. No foxing. Some age darken to exposed edges of some of the pages, (two types of paper used by the printer). The model plates are complete and in superb condition, with no damage or tears. Tight and solid bindings. Covers and spine of Vol. 1 are very bright. Vol 2 has fade to spine and covers, (the 2 volumes are uniform, but perhaps were aquired by the previous owner, from 2 sources). Also Vol. 2 has some damp staining on front cover, with cloth poppled and some marks to covers. Light corner bumps to both volumes. Ownership inscription in Vol 2 only. A set with the one volume as VG, and the other being VG internally, but with external failings noted. - .##. - The sectional models, constructed as a series of overlays, include steam engine, a locomotive, gas, deisel and oil engines, and an automobile of 1908.
