Cant, Malcolm ( Signed Copy): Edinburgh Shops Past and Present ( Signed Copy);
Edinburgh, Malcolm Cant Publications, 2005; Reprint. Hardback. 9.5" x 10". Nr fine/ Dust jacket Nr fine. 88pp with numerous photographs. Signed by the Author on title page.. Green covers with gilt title on spine. Protected dust jacket. " In an ideal world, all our favourite shops would remain open. But times and fashions change; people die or move on; and buildings are demolished. This collection of photographs is the next best thing, and will no doubt remind many of their youth. Edinburgh has always maintained a breathtaking variety of retail premises, it seems; and soon, who will remember what a drapery or hosiery store was without a book such as this? Edinburgh Shops Past and Present is not only a nostalgic look at what people bought in times now gone, but is a window onto a whole society, warts and all. This is a book to delight old and young, natives and non-natives, reactionaries and modernists." (Book ref. 18174) £17.00
