Chaucer Bookshop

Canterbury is close to London (about 1 1/2 hours by train) and only 30 minutes drive from the Channel Tunnel.

The Chaucer Bookshop is situated in a beautiful 18th Century building inside Canterbury's city walls. The building was originally one house but was established as a bookshop in 1956. The adjoining property was also later acquired and the bookshop greatly extended.

Amongst the wide range of books (on 2 floors) you will find art, architecture, history, English literature, topography, travel, food and wine, railways and many more. We have a variety of original prints and maps for sale and a selection of modern First Editions and fine bindings.

We also stock a comprehensive range of Fine Art greetings cards and wrapping paper.

Our opening hours are: Monday - Saturday 10am-5pm, Sundays and most Bank Holidays 11am - 4pm.

Looking through our stock

Browse, or look for items in your own subject-area of interest:

Use the browse all button or browse subject button in the left-hand column to browse or search through all our stock, starting with the most recently added items.

Author or title search:

Use the search boxes at the top of this page.

When searching, enter as little information as possible. One or two words in total (three at most) are normally sufficient to find what you're looking for if we have it; any more and you're unlikely to find anything.
